Bamboo > Carbon > Yarn

May 12, 01:23 AM

Another innovation made possible by nanotechnology, Greenyarn LLC’s eco fabric is made from carbon molecules derived from bamboo. Fresh bamboo is dried and heated to 800 degrees C until it turns into charcoal. It’s then processed into very fine nano particles, combined with other fibers, and woven into yarn. Pure bamboo fabric is said to have the texture of silk. (Note: the image above is magnified).
