New Machine-made Mesh
May 12, 12:39 AM

The Centre d’Innovació I Desenvolupament Empresarial has developed a new machine-made wire mesh for use on greenhouses and trellises—with rhombus-shaped holes—that can be made quickly and inexpensively.
Until now, the wire mesh for greenhouses is produced manually: every several meters, the workers lay on the ground the wires all along the field. Once the wires cross the field all along its length, then the workers cross the field interlacing the “horizontal” wires with the “vertical” wires, making a mesh like a chess table. Over this mesh, the textile or plastics for the greenhouse are placed. Then another mesh like the previous one is placed over it, so the wind cannot take it away. The biggest disadvantage of this process is that produced mesh loosens easily. Another major issue is that this technique is very time-consuming.—ircnet.lu
